The 5th Battalion of the Special Service Brigade is a commando unit that has been assigned to the Special Operations Executive – Alternate Threats Section.  First Company is the point of the spear of the Alternate Threat Section and tasked with direct confrontation of Nazi and Fascist black magic, monsters, and super science. Rising to meet this dangerous and unusual challenge are dangerous and unusual men.

ACTIVE FIRST COMPANY COMMAND GROUP:

Captain Graves Basil:
Capt. Basil is a low born young officer from a family foundry workers and the new leader of First Company. He has proven himself repeatedly commanding First Company's second platoon. Basil came to ATS through a bureaucratic error but seems to have adapted well to the unique nature of the mission. How he will perform in his new role remains to be seen but it appears he is approaching the situation with gravity and professionalism. His tendency to remain heavily armed even in a London suburb adds fuel to the desire of his "betters" among the officer corps to look down on a the less educated Basil.

Lt. Stanely Woodnell:
Lt. Woodnell, “Woodie”, is an expert pilot and driver. Woodie served as staff pilot and personal driver for General Lord Gort during the battle of France and Dunkirk.  Later Lt. Woodnell became an ace as a Spitfire pilot in the Battle of Britain. Despite his protests Woodnell was transferred to the Alternate Threat Section and serves as the unit’s liason to the RAF and as driver and pilot for First Company. In that role he has shown that he has a preternatural gift for controlling anything with wheels or wings and his skill has gotten the Company out of several scrapes.

Father McCoy:
Father McCoy is an Irish immigrant to America and Catholic priest. Fr. McCoy feels God has called him to fight evil directly. He joined the British army as a chaplain and found himself serving on General Lord Gort’s staff at Dunkirk and from there the Alternate Threat Section. McCoy’s prayers and fortitude help sustain the men of First Company against the great dangers they face. Many of the enemy cannot even stand in the presence of the Father. When forced to fight Father McCoy will not break the commandment against killing a man; but with the Alternate Threat Section he still finds plenty of targets for the silver bullets in his Colt 1911.

The Great Bandini:
A self proclaimed "Psychic Geographer" who helped ATS over come the cult in North Pinning, Lancashire. He himself only narrowly avoided becoming a victim of the cult and it wicked leader, Professor Harling.  However, his ability to enter the "Twenty Sixth State of Consciousness" made him a significant asset in the battle of Stanson Estate and will no doubt serve First Company well in the dark days ahead.

FIRST COMPANY COMMAND ON TEMPORARY LOAN TO OTHER UNITS:

Sergeant Chakra:
Sgt. Chakra is an American Indian who feels the spirits of his ancestors called him to fight evil. He joined the British army and found himself serving as a scout for General Lord Gort in France. From there he joined the Alternate Threat Section but spends much of his time as an instructor in stealth and reconnaissance at the Commando School.  Chakra is a great scout and has a strong empathy with animals; some claim that animals do his bidding, others claim Chakra can take the form of an animal. He is often insulted by the habit of some in First Company to call him by “injun names”; some combination of adjective and animal that describe whatever he is doing at the moment.

FIRST COMPANY COMMAND ON PERMANENT OR LONG TERM DISABILITY:

Captain Archibald Root:
Cpt. Root, “Archie”, was the commanding officer of First Company.  Root is from an aristocratic family and a veteran of the “The Twilight War” and the disaster in France. Because his unique experiences in the winter of 1939 he was identified for the Alternate Threat Section. Archie is a near perfect shot with his monster revolver – a .455 caliber Webley Mk VI and is easily picked out in a fight by the umbrella he often carries. Captain Root received bullet wounds during a raid on the Greek village of Kotronas. Although he survived, his wounds were such he cannot continue in active service.

Dr. Nikkola Tesla:
Doctor Tesla is the real inventor of radio, as he constantly tells everyone within ear shot. He served the Alternate Threat Section as chief science advisor. Despite his age he often insisted on serving directly in the field and made a difference with his skill in radio and with his Tesla Coil weapon. Doctor Tesla had many secret projects in his fortified lab at the Abbner Home – one may change the course of the war. After narrowly escaping capture during the unsuccessful raid on Kotronas Tesla was forcibly transferred out of ATS and forbidden participation in future field missions. His research continues in an undisclosed location.

Mr. Ramses:
Mr. Ramses tries to hide the bandages that cover his entire body with a hat and overcoat. Ramses is of unknown origin and age but is known to have a close relationship with several archeologists at Cambridge and is himself an expert Egyptologist. Ramses seems to have command over some supernatural forces uses an ancient sword in battle. The men of First Company say the Ramses was terribly burned in battle – which explains the bandages. So far no one has explained his freakish resistance to injury.  A resistance so sorely tested in the village of North Pinning, Lancashire that Mr. Ramses has been returned the Egyptology Department at Cambridge and may never return.

CHARACTERS WHO MAY JOIN FIRST COMPANY IN THE FUTURE:

Captain America:
Steve Rogers was born on July 4, 1917 in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, New York City, to Irish immigrants Sarah and Joseph Rogers. By the early 1940s, before America's entry into World War II, Rogers is a tall but scrawny fine arts student specializing in illustration. Disturbed by the rise of the Third Reich, Rogers attempts to enlist, only to be rejected due to his poor constitution. A U.S. Army officer looking for test subjects offers Rogers the chance to serve his country by taking part in a top-secret defense project — Operation: Rebirth, which seeks to develop a means of creating physically superior soldiers. Rogers volunteers for the research and, after a rigorous selection process, is chosen as the first human test subject for the Super-Soldier serum.
